Thursday morning, Evan woke up with no fever and was acting pretty much like his old self. So, I sent him and Carter to school, but let the teachers know that he might not be feeling well and call me if I need to come pick him up. They ended up having to call me at 11:00 to pick him up. We made it an entire year without them missing a day of school or having to leave early, and now that we're within a few weeks of school ending, they get sick and have to go home early. :( Carter was still fine at this point, but Evan was just fussy and not feeling well.
A lot of spoiling goes on when the boys are sick. Not just because we feel bad for our little guys when they don't feel good, but also because sick toddlers are fussy toddlers and sometimes we have to be a little more lenient with tv time, treats, etc. to keep everybody happy.
We took the boys to McDonald's for ice cream and this made them so happy. They weren't eating or drinking much, so we were happy that they ate something, even if it was a soft serve ice cream cone.
As you can see--this makes them very happy. Also, you can tell, Carter is feeling fine still.
The next day Carter woke up with a fever and not feeling good. Look at those pink cheeks and he just wanted Daddy the entire weekend. I didn't mind one bit. :)
Greg and Carter went to Which Wich to get dinner Friday night, me and Evan stayed home and played in the backyard. I let him go out there barefoot and he thought that was the best thing ever. I usually just put shoes on them out of habit, but now I'll have to start just letting them play outside barefoor more often. He thought the sand on his feet was so great.
We had a lot of birds in our yard and Evan was so excited. He kept saying "come here birds" and then he said "You're a bird and I'm Evan and I'm going to get you" haha. One of them flew into the trees in the yard and he said "I know you're hiding"
This is him "roaring" at them. That is actually what he calls it, he'll say "mommy, roar me" when he wants me to chase him though the house while roaring.
While Evan was playing, I figured out why we had so many birds in the yard, they had built a nest under our deck. I had Greg gently move it to the trees after he got home.
The next day was rainy and chilly. The boys were tired of being cooped up in the house, so we let them play in the backyard for a little bit just to get some fresh air.
Pajamas, moose hat (or as Carter calls it-his cow hat) fleeces, and shoes. They were a mess. You can see the bandaid on Carter's knee. He got a plain bandaid at school and when they got home, Evan wanted a bandaid. The only bandaids we have are Cars ones. So, I give it to Evan and then Carter needs his changed to a Cars bandaid. The novelty wore off fast for Evan and when it came off, he didn't think anything else about it. I'm still having to put one on Carter's knee--a week later! He's obsessed. He woke up at midnight the other night and said "oh no, my cars Band-Aid". It had come off in his sleep and he wasn't going back to sleep until I gave him another one. Oh my.
Saturday evening, we were all sick of the house and the weather had cleared up a little, so we went to a park that nobody is ever at and had dinner.
The boys were so excited that Daddy was pushing them so "fast" on the swings.
The boys had a good time. They didn't get too worked up and it was a great place to get out of the house and not get anybody sick.
This is how most of our weekend went--lounging in pjs and watching tv. We watched more tv in the past week than we have all year.
We had some errands to do on Sunday, we need groceries and some things from Target. We figured we could all go and one of us would stay in the car with the boys and one of us would run in and get the things we needed really fast. We put on a movie in the car for the boys and didn't even bother changing them out of their pjs. Carter insisted on wearing his "cow" hat. I'm checking out at Target and Greg calls me and tells me they're in the store. the boys were not wanting to wait and so he brought them in. Looking like this.
Look at that happy skip!
Monday, was the tail end of it for us. I was feeling so run down from getting up with Carter 3 nights in a row because his fever spiked between 9:30-12:30 every single night like clockwork. So, I was up that whole time with him. Plus, he'd wake up a couple more times after that. The boys were still fussy and I don't know if it was a mixture of still not feeling 100%, being cooped up, the nasty rainy weather, etc. We did a little coloring, but their attention span was just not very long that day.
Watched some more tv.
I got them some bug catching kits and plastic critters from the Dollar Tree. They loved picking the lizards up with their bug tweezers and putting them in their little cage. Evan insisted his cage was a camera and has used it like that since he got it. Carter somehow got the string off his and uses it to pretend he's fishing. It's like several toys for the price of one. :) I'm so thankful for the Dollar Tree on sick days or rainy days when we need some new things to entertain us.
We are all finally feeling much better. It's been raining a lot the past several days and I think it's supposed to rain every day until Monday, but it's much easier to deal with rainy days when the boys are not sick.

Haircuts and Yoder's
A random picture of the boys at Sam's Club eating pizza. This has nothing to do with the post, I just thought they looked so grown up here. :(
Speaking of grown, how big does Carter look here!
Last Wednesday, I took the boys to the gym and when I went to pick them up from the Kidzone, Evan looked out of it and was super fussy. He fell asleep on the way home and let me transfer him from the car to his room. I thought something was up, but he woke up from his nap in a good mood, so I just figured he was tired. We had a rabbit in our front yard, so we had animal control bring us a cage to catch it. After we did, we took it by Greg's work to set it free. The boys loved the whole thing.
It was so cute!
Then, we went and got the boys hair cut. They were so well behaved and polite. I never take them by myself, so I'm glad they were good for me. Evan, before his hair cut.
Carter, before his hair cut. They've needed them for awhile!
After the boys' haircut, we went to Yoder's with one of the boys' friend, Konnor. Carter was so excited to see another bunny after we just set one free.
These birds were free to roam around and the boys loved that.
Swinging.
Evan and Konnor, swinging.
The goats seemed very interested in Konnor's little brother, Peyton.
I thought this was the cutest picture I got the whole day. How sweet are they all holding hands?!?
We fed the boys dinner there and this was the best picture I could get of these 3.

Anyways, on to the post. Last week, we started every morning out like this. The boys love to watch Dinosaur Train and Super Why on my ipad in my bed. It's nice because they're entertained and I can get up and get ready before we start our day.

After we had been at Yoder's for a little bit, Evan started getting clingy and fussy. After we ate, he actually asked me to go home. He was so pitiful on the way home and ended up falling asleep. I gave him a super quick bath and put him to bed. That was the beginning of the sickness that we dealt with for the next 5-6 days. Boo!

Trip to Tennessee
The last weekend in April, I went to Tennessee to visit one of my aunts that's in the hospital. I left Greg in charge of the boys and I left early Friday morning and got back home after the boys were in bed on Saturday night. So, it was a quick trip, but I'm so glad I was able to go.
The drive down was almost 6 hours. As a stay at home mom, those 6 hours in the car were so relaxing. :) I cranked up the radio and just enjoyed having the car to myself. Plus, it's such a pretty drive.
Mmmm....a diet vanilla dr. pepper. I made about 5 stops at Sonic on the way there and back just to get my diet vanilla dr. pepper fix. They have the best drinks. We don't have one in our town, so I have to drink as much as I can when I'm on a road trip.
I met my mom and sister in Newport and then we all drove to Knoxville together.
We went and saw my aunt at the hospital. My other aunt was there too, so we just sat and talked and caught up. It was so nice to spend some time with my family. I don't see them nearly enough.
After visiting with my aunts, we left and checked into our hotel room. Then, we went to Olive Garden for dinner. I hadn't seen my mom and sister since Christmas. My sister just got on Instagram, so I had somebody who shared my obsession with taking pictures of everything! I'm pretty sure my mom thought we were nuts. ;)
After dinner, we headed back to the hotel room, showered and just talked and talked. I slept so good! Greg had been so good about texting me updates on how the boys were doing and so I knew they were all doing fine without me. The next morning, we got up and went by the hospital again and then back to Newport where we had lunch and went out separate ways.
I feel like I spent more time driving than I did with my family, but it was so worth it. I love seeing everybody, and really need to do it more often. Greg said he enjoyed his "boys weekend"! I'm so lucky to have a husband that helps out like that and the boys are lucky to have a dad that loves spending time with them. I knew the boys were in good hands, so I wasn't worried the whole trip and was really able to enjoy it.

Weekend Recap
It was rainy and nasty Friday morning, so we took the boys to Bounce and Play. They always love going there and they had a great time running around.
After naps, we ran a few errands and then took the boys by Chick-Fil-A for some yogurt and playtime.
I love how much they loved the yogurt, since it's not something I feel guilty about feeding them.
This is what our drive home looked like. (I wasn't driving) it was raining and thundering.
Saturday morning we went to the gym and worked out. While we were there, we added Adventure Central to our membership. This includes a huge water park that opens May 3rd, the use of the "Big Room" on the weekends, and a few other perks. We took the boys over to the "Big Room" to check it out and see what it was all about. The boys were so excited when we got there. They loved it!
There's lots of climbing, slides, rock walls, bounce house, and it's free for us to use with our gym membership. I have a feeling that we'll be coming here this summer when it's rainy out.
Evan and Carter stuck together the whole time. If one went down a slide before the other, they'd immediately start looking for each other. I loved that.
They went fast down this slide.
Carter going down the yellow slide.
They had a free "Wack A Mole" game and Carter immediately knew exactly what to do. He was really good at it.
You can see the rock climbing wall and blocks behind them.
They loved jumping in the bounce house when it was just the two of them in there.
After we left "The Big Room", we were all hungry. It had been awhile since we've gone to a sit down restaurant with the boys and Greg and I were due for a cheat meal from all our hard work at the gym, so we decided to go to a Mexican restaurant with the boys. They did SO good. Each time we take them out, they seem to do better and better. I had a good time and I'm really glad that we did that with the boys.
The boys were exhausted when we got home and just wanted to watch tv. They never sit together on this thing, so I thought it was cute that they did.
How bath time looks lately. They love their cheap $1.00 bath books and they'll just lay down and read. The water is orange from the color tabs I put in there for them.
Sunday was chilly, but it wasn't rainy, so we took the boys to the park. They had fun and got a little sunshine and got some energy out.
I'm glad we were able to take them to the park, we all needed a little fresh air.
That was pretty much our weekend. We did the boring things like run errands, clean up, mow the grass, and it just made our 3 day weekend seem like it flew by. Not a whole lot going on this coming week, just trying to get the house clean and organized while the boys are at school and we're trying to go to the gym most days of the week. I'll share that shrimp fried rice recipe later this week. I hope everybody had a great weekend.
