Playing Outside

We took the boys to the park Tuesday afternoon, but they were not interested in playing on the playground, they wanted to explore. Since they both wanted to go off, we decided to let them lead the way. They love just getting to run around.

They ran around the dugout a few times and probably could have done it all night, but some people started showing up to play a game. They were just laughing and giggling as they ran. It's so cute how simple things make them so happy.

We had never gone to this part of the park before and it was so beautiful. There were three deer and some squirrels in the field before Carter saw them and started squealing and running over there.

There was a volleyball net and sand court that we never knew was there. The boys loved running around the sand.

They made up this game where one would fall on his knees and say "oh no, help!" and the other one would go over there and take their hand and they'd get up and say "Thanks!" They took turns doing this several times and it was so cute.

Then they thought it was hilarious to smack their hands on the sand.

Look how happy Carter is. They thought it was so funny.

"helping" each other get up.

Then the boys had a quick snack of puffs before they ran around a little more.

When we got home, I started looking through the mail and realized the boys were being quiet. That's normally a bad sign, but I found them playing so well together. They played from the time we got home until they took their bath so well together. I love it. They do their share of fighting but they are also the best of friends and it melts my heart.

Something else that just melts my heart is seeing them sleeping. Now that they're in big boy beds, I go in and check on them before we go to bed to make sure they're in the beds and covered up. They like to have a book to take to bed, so I'll take those out too. They look so precious and sweet when I check on them. No matter what kind of day it's been, no matter how many tantrums they've thrown, I forget it when I see how innocent they look sleeping. I need some pictures of them like that so when they start fighting or when they climb on the counter while I'm in the shower and take a fresh batch of cookies and dump them all over the house, I can look at the picture of them sleeping and think "aww...". ;)

Our Day and Catching Up

We have had quite the busy morning around the house. We usually try and stay home Wednesday mornings unless we have a playdate to go to since the boys have preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Wednesdays are a nice day to just stay in our pjs and play.

I let the boys color after breakfast. They LOVE coloring. I got some inexpensive Halloween cards and let the boys decorate them to send to family.

Then we went to the basement where we played with empty boxes and made a blanket fort.
After that we did all kinds of playing in the basement. The boys rocked their "baby" (glow worm) and then put it down for a nap. They watched the guys painting our deck for awhile (we always get our money's worth when we hire people to do things because it doubles as entertainment for the boys)
and they got into everything they could to make the biggest mess possible in the basement. They wore themselves out and are napping now.
I thought I'd post some pictures from the past couple of weeks that I never posted. My mom got the boys these guitars and they were a huge hit. They play with them every day.

Evan was playing with his little drill.

and then this happened. I laughed so hard.

I found a huge box of cheese ball packets at Target and thought the cute, Halloween themed snack bags were perfect to take for preschool snack. Every parent brings snacks at the beginning of the month, puts it in the preschool pantry and that's what all the kids eat for snack. I gave the boys a bag (or 3) for a snack and discovered how messy they were. Probably not the best snack. oops.
I found these dinosaur figures at Walmart for $1.00, I've been looking for some and can't believe I found them so cheap. The boys love them, especially Evan. I made some homemade applesauce that nobody would eat but me. :( It was so yummy. And doesn't Carter look like such a big boy in this pic. It's blurry, but I was trying to get one that entire morning and he wouldn't stay still. He just looked so much older to me. Not a baby anymore. :(
The boys love sitting at the table like big boys. We still put them in their high chairs for most meals, but I let them sit there for breakfast.

Somebody left the computer door opened and Evan ran in there after his nap one day. He always goes straight for Greg's desk and starts playing with the mouse and keyboard. He saw some headphones, so he put those on.

This is how Evan watched tv on Monday. I don't know how he lays like that without falling inbetween the couch and ottoman, but he laid there for the longest time.

That's pretty much all my random pics that I didn't post yet. I hope everybody is having a good week.

Greenfield Farm

I have not been posting as much as I'd like lately. I came down with something awful last week and was sick for 4-5 days. We haven't been up to much, but I still don't like to get behind on posting pictures and stories about the boys. Saturday, after the boys nap and lots of cold medicine, we decided to take the boys to the small pumpkin patch just down the road from us (about 3-4 miles). It wasn't very busy and the boys had a blast.

There's so much to do at this pumpking patch. It's the only one we go to that costs to get in, but it's worth it. The boys were able to do so much more this year than they did last year.

They loved this slide on top of the hay bales.

There's a toddler area that's blocked off with a fence with all kinds of riding toys. Carter spent most of the time here. He loved it, he went from toy to toy. Greg stuck with Carter and I followed Evan. Evan was all over the place, there was a slide that he went down over and over.

Here's Evan feeding the horse some corn. I love when they do sweet things like this.

Here's the toddler area.

The spider hay bale with a slide on the end.

A bigger hay bale maze that kids could run around on and go down the slide. It's for much older kids and Evan wanted to go over there so bad. He would have been fine if there was nobody else, but I didn't want the older kids to have to watch out for a 2 year old. so, we skipped that area.

Evan was saying "where's Carter?" They both put their hands up like that anytime they say "where's.."

Having a hot dog for dinner.

My pictures area little out of order since some came from my phone and some came from my camera.

Evan had to climb the spider web like the big kids.

He went down this slide so many times. He'd get to the bottom and say "more" and go back around again.

Evan on the hayride. It was packed.

Carter was so good on the hayride. It was really long and after a little while they wanted to move their legs, but they did good.

In the petting zoo area.

On the way out the lady gave the boys each a small pumpkin for free. They were so excited! They carried them to the car and wouldn't let go of them. We actually had to hide them after they went to bed because they wanted to hold them in the house and we were afraid they'd drop them and bust them open in the house.

We had a lot of fun, even though I was sick, I'm so glad we went. I love seeing the boys run around and get excited about things. Here's a picture of them last year at the same pumpkin patch. Look how small they were!! You can read about that trip here. I can't belive how much they've changed since then.

Carter's Mountain Apple Festival

Saturday, we went to Carter's Mountain for their annual Apple Festival. Greg and I went a couple of times before the boys were born and we took the boys last year. You can read about last year's visit here (and see how much the boys have grown!)

We left about 7:40am, just a little bit after my mom left after staying for a week. :( This is the first year that they've opened at 8:00, and there were already a lot of people there when we got there. The hayrides didn't start until 9:00, so we just let the boys run around and explore. They loved just being outside and getting to run around. We decided to do this trip the night before, so we don't have the boys in their personalized pumpkin shirts, but I'm going to take care of that this week so they'll have them for our next pumpkin patch trip.

The boys loved the pumpkins.

The cute decorations that they had set up on the deck.

The boys appreciated the fall centerpieces on each picnic table. They just had to check them out.

This is where I thought we could get some cute pictures of them sitting and smiling, but they were on the move and not stopping for anything.

Except apple cider donuts. They had no idea what we bought but they knew it was food and they both sat down so they could get some.

Mmmm.....they loved the donuts.

Apparently this is Evan's "yummy" face.

We were the first ones on the hayride, so we got to get sit for a few minutes before taking off. We sat at the front so the boys could see the tractor that was pulling us.

When we took off, the boys were in awe for several minutes. They just sat and stared at everything, it was really cute.

Then, we let them stand at the front and watch. We were both sitting behind them, so they were fine.

We had a 30 minute drive home and after all the running around the boys did, we had to make sure they didn't sleep in the car on the way home. I brought a knife and apple peeler with me along with some snack cups and was planning on cutting up apple slices for them to eat. Well, while we were picking out the apples, Evan picks one up and takes a huge bite out of it, so of course, Carter does the same. They're used to the peach patch and you can do that there. We got the apples out of the country store, where you don't just pick them up and eat them. Oops. But, the cashier that checked us out ended up giving them to us for free, so that was really sweet.

Evan ate his entire apple and the half of Carter's that he didn't finish. He asks for peaches every single day, and when he saw the apples, he said "peach!" I think he just likes being able to eat any fruit like a big kid. He loves just picking it up and taking a bite.

These pictures were from my cell phone. Carter was so excited when he saw the tractor.

I put Evan in an orange shirt, not really thinking about it. He totally blended in with the pumpkins. oops.

I love pictures of them side by side. Even if they're not looking at the camera or smiling.

We had so much fun on our first hayride of the season. There's a couple more pumpkin patch/hayrides that we want to go to. They're the perfect activity for us to do. They're outside and the boys get to run around and they're so much fun.
